Competitions
2017-2018 In The Zone
Year 1 of Disconnection Issues
1st Competition - Google Annual VEX Robotics Tournament
12-30-17
We didn't do so well in the actual competition. However, we were lucky enough to win the Design Award!
2nd Competition - Florin In The Zone
1-20-18
This competition was much better than our previous one. We made it all the way to semi-finals, where we lost. Some minor setbacks had occurred during the day, but we were proud of how far we had gone. This competition is where we received our Excellence Award to qualify for State.
3rd Competition - Google Annual Middle School Competition
2-3-18
We had a lot of fun at this competition, and we were able to relax because we had qualified for State. Our team made it to quarterfinals at this competition.
4th Competition - 2018 California VRC Middle School State Competition
3-4-18
State was AMAZING!!!! We had so much fun competing, and our 22 point autonomous worked for our last match! We only made it to quarterfinals and didn't qualify for any awards, but it was a really fun learning experience for us.
5th Competition - Google Girls Only Tournament
4-21-18
This competition was one of the really fun ones. Our autonomous ended up working 7 out of 8 times, and we ended qualifying matches in 2nd place! We allianced with the first place team and made it to finals, where we lost. This competition is where we won our final award, a Judges Award.
2018-2019 Turning Point
Year 2 of Disconnection Issues
1st Competition - Tracy Triangle Winter VEX Tournament
12-8-18
This was our first competition with our new bot. The flywheel decided it didn't want to work, so we had some difficulty doing well. We didn't make it to quarterfinals, but we had a lot of fun!
2nd Competition - Google - GSNor Cal LMK8 Turning Point Tournament
1-12-19
This was a competition we didn't have very high hopes for. The night before our competition, the cortex had completely reset itself (#whitescreenofdeath), autonomous was all backward and our intake fell off the bot. ( Major kudos to Vanini who figured out how to fix the cortex.) However, we placed second in qualifiers, second in skills, and autonomous decided to work relatively well for 6 out of 7 matches. We also were allianced with the first place team and were very excited for quarterfinals. Unfortunately, our alliance's drivetrain stopped working and our intake broke. (I would just like to note that both of the issues were immediately gone after the match had ended.) We were lucky enough to win our first award, a Judges Award. Even with all the bumps, it was a very fast paced, fun-filled day.
3rd Competition - Turning Point at the Bay
1-17-19
We didn't do too great at this competition, but we did get a cool video from it so it wan't a complete loss.
4th Competition - Turning Point in Central Valley
2-2-19
This competition went a lot better for us, and we made it to quarter-finals. We also a had a weird bonding moment with the three of us that were there. The competition was, as usual, chaotic but fun.
5th Competition - Signature Event: Google VEX Turning Point
2-16-19
Oh boy. This was a disaster. At least we had M&Ms and boba.
6th Competition- 2019 California VEX VRC High School State Championship
3-9-19
This competition didn't go too great, but we all saw Captain Marvel together afterwards. That sort of made up for the disappointment.
7th Competition - 2019 VEX Robotics World Championship
4-24-19
IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! It was amazing getting to meet new teams from all over the world! There was a small issue with languages, but it was nothing the Google Translate or pointing couldn't fix.
2019-2020 Tower Takeover
Year 3 of Disconnection Issues
Central Valley Tower Takeover - Missed Competition
We were unfortunately unable to go to this competition due to our main driver being sick.
1st Competition - Redwood Rumble II
December 7th, 2019
This competition went ok. The night before the intake broke so we were dealing with a sketchy intake. We came in 11th and apparently we got dqed.
2nd Competition - Central Valley Tower Takeover
January 11th, 2020
We had a good time at this competition. Our robot worked for the most part, and we ended the qualifiers in 5th place. However, our intake broke during the quarterfinal match and we lost.
